Philosophising, poker
If they play poker in a communist country, does everyone get the same cards, or do they simply all get their buy-ins back at the end?
In a Theocracy would you have to show your cards at the end, or just believe that you were beaten?
In a capitalist world, does the shortstack always lose?
In a dictatorship does the dealer simply win no matter the cards?

so why not immortality? Why not death being the exception? Genetics, medicine, diet, lifestyle…
would make for a pretty neat answer… bye bye god and such…

Two interesting quotes from Christopher Hitchens’ “God is not Great”:
- In response to Napoleon asking of the absence of God in his orrery (a working model of the solar system as seen from the outside), Laplace replies:
“Je n’ai pas besoin de cette hypothèse” (I do not need that hypothesis)
- Francisco Goya:
“El seuño de la razón produce monstruos” (The sleep of reason brings forth monsters)

PC. This is what’s wrong with the world.
The “Washington Wizards”, an NBA team, used to be called the “Washington Bullets”. Apparently, that name was found to be politically incorrect, and it was decided to change the team’s name to “Wizards”. The old name somehow seemed to induce images of violence. Now, when I think of wizards, I think of fireballs and ice blizzards. Dragons and shockwaves… But that’s just me.
At the core of this is our constant attempts to blame someone or something for society’s failures. School kid goes crazy and shoots his classmates? Heavy Metal. Blame Marylin Manson. Teenage pregnancy on the rise? Blame TV.
So, the word “Bullets” is going to induce people to go out and buy bullets and shoot people as… a sign of support for their team? peer pressure? wtf?
If put to a vote, I’d vote ‘cut the crap’ over ‘political correctness’ every time. There’s a thin line between PC and BS (blind sightedness, or bullshit… as you like it)… In our quest to say the right thing, and act the right way, we’re willfully stepping over that line, and rendering our efforts (honorable as they may be) useless.

Jim Morrison never ceases to blow my mind. He smoothly and delicately puts to words my innermost thoughts. Talk about idols.
“The program for this evening is not new.
You have seen This entertainment through & through.
You’ve seen your birth, your life & death;
you might recall all of the rest –
did you have a good world when you died? –
enough to base a movie on?

Sadly, in this day and age, evolution is not an agreed upon scientific fact anymore. Now, we have to pick a side, evolution or creationism. The development of sentient beings into what we are now, or a hocus-pocus project that big G undertook on a slow week. Let there be man. Let there be light. Let there be a small intestine. Let there be premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction. Roar.
I believe in evolution. However, rather than tackle our origin, I would like to take a look at what’s to come. Obviously, we’re not perfect. We’re continuously changing creatures, evolving to become better at surviving in tomorrow’s world. In my eyes, the next step is not so good.
Emotion, laziness, sickness, elation, anger, stress, boredom, happiness… parts of what makes us human. Also, things that are frowned upon in today’s high-productivity world. We need to be able to work longer hours, make less errors, be less susceptible to disease, and take less days off. Monday or Friday products are unacceptable. The quality of our work must not be affected by how we’re feeling that day. Walking in on your girlfriend in bed with your best friend is no reason for you to be less enthusiastic about being in your office at 8 a.m. the next morning. Your view of the world should not affect the bottom line. We are becoming more specialized, learning to perfect one particular task instead of having your finger in a whole bunch of pies. I like pie.
This is more noticeable, to me at least, in Germany. Even fun is organized and generic. You go out on Fridays, not on Wednesdays. If you want to go out on a Wednesday, there’s something wrong with you. If you don’t want to go out on a Friday, there’s something wrong with you.
Our next big evolutionary step is to become robots; a detached, unfeeling machine, fine-tuned to perform that one task without asking any questions. We are required to become machines.
That’s our future. Losing our individuality and becoming just another whore in the capitalist gangbang. Wearing tons of makeup. Catching the John’s attention. Faking an orgasm. Cashing out at the end of the day (night).
I don’t like it.

I’m back! For real… It’s been so difficult… I want to post, I want to stay away…
Death has been on my mind a lot these days… It’s THE question that no one has an answer to, yet we must all one day face… Here’s one of the nicer possibilities… imagine that we have some sort of energy in us… this energy is neither quantifiable nor controllable… some experiences emit some of our energy to be absorbed, other experiences lead to us absorbing more energy… laughter is contagious? some people cry when they see other people’s misery? energy moving back and forth…there is a certain balance that must be preserved…
Naturally, I can’t prove this theory… but get this…
When you die, your energy is disippated and absorbed by your surroundings… if you die amongst your loved ones, your lifeforce lives on in them…

It made sense, when I was 16 or so, to look up to ‘Superstars’. Be it rockstars, popstars, or athletes… But, with time, I’m noticing that I am doing this less and less. And for good reason. I’m growing older.
This means that, first of all, it’s upsetting when someone aged 16 bursts out on the music scene, earning, by signing a contract, more than I’ll probably earn in a lifetime. Secondly, it’s upsetting to idolize someone younger than you (usually). So, there go all the new sportstars, and all the popstars (not that I like those in the first place).
Basically, the only sort left for me to idolize is the old “Rock/Metal stars!” Hey! That works out perfectly.
That said, Joss Stone is stunningly beautiful.
