Wifi to go, no cafes needed. Verizon's MiFi creates a local, portable hotspot using 3G cellular data networks. The gadget seems very appealing, and offers a more practical solution to internet access and mobility. On the other hand, it's yet another gadget to carry around, and apart from the added benefit of sharing a connection (and at 1-5 gigabytes per month, I'm not sure that's very practical) I have to wonder whether building these straight into laptops doesn't make more sense.
