Who we are(?).

Some believe that Lebanon is an Arab country. Others want nothing to do with our “arab brethren”. Some want a federal country split along quasi-religious lines. Others want to be seen as westerners. Some like beer, others don’t. Some are alcoholics, others believe that drinking alcohol is a sin. Miniskirts and burkas, crosses and crescents… it’s all good.

The fundamental building block is the concept of a country. When that is agreed upon, everything else is ok. Everything can be discussed, proposed, debated and decided upon.

Then you’ve got fuckers who believe Lebanon is a scapegoat for their Islamist goals. They think Lebanon is a pressure valve whose purpose of existence is to tickle a monster in order to capture its’ attention and allow other fuckers to prepare their bombs in peace.

I’m talking of my favorite bunch of ragheads… god’s own, of course.

What the fuck is wrong with these retards? Kidnapping Israeli soldiers? fighting them, drawing them into the country? And why? Has anything happened recently? Did the Isreali warplanes’ buzzing of the Syrian dictator’s summer palace bother the “resistance” so much? Do they feel with the Palestinian cause enough to risk their own “country”? Well… they don’t believe in the country, true… so I guess that’s not a valid argument.

What’s happening in Israel is always a sad thing, but it’s not our thing. Nothing good has come from Palestinians. They’ve meant pain and suffering and war ever since they became in any way a part of the Lebanese sphere.We’ve also suffered enough for them and their cause.

And then comes Hassan, who also probably doesn’t give a shit about the Palestinians, and starts riling the Israelis up. Are the Iranis planning something, and therefore asked you to provide some cover fire? Are your masters in Syria sending a message to Israel? Go to fucking Iran you bastard. What do you want with us? You’re not Lebanese… you are the antithesis of anything and everything Lebanese.

How about not being stupid? Do you want an Israeli invasion? Is that what you want you hairy-assed masochists? I don’t get it. The world is moving forward, and terrorist and rogue nations are being sidelined. Lebanon was on its way up, somehow, ridding itself of the Syrians, open “discussions” in parliament, breaching taboo subjects… There was a glimmer of hope. What are we now? A nation on the terror list again?

    Well done. Can’t be said any better.

    You hit the nail on the head. The fundamental building blocks have to be fought for, argued over, decided and then followed by all.

    It’s not easy, it wasn’t easy in the beginning for us, it is not easy now, but we keep trying to follow the building blocks and the foundation of our founders.

    So far, we have been successful, in our very, very short history.

    How come peoples of this earth that have been here thousands of years are still unable to duplicate what we have done in a such a brief time?

    Is it that we are willing to fight and die to make a better world for our children and grandchildren? It couldn’t be as simple as that…could it?

    Let’s hope this is the beginning of the end for Hezballah.

    @Daniel: If I had a dollar for every time I’ve felt like that!

    @PR: Fundamental building blocks… nations… it doesn’t work with fundamentalists… you should thank your lucky stars that your country is far enough from all this controversy that you were able to develop and mesh into a nation. Diversity is a good thing, to a certain extent, but oil and water simply don’t mix.

    @TBP: thanks.

    I remember when Lebanon was the jewel of the Mediterranean. It was beautiful, vibrant, full of hope, and full of life. It was a long time ago, before the war torn years. I have watched the long, slow progress to come back. And now, thanks to Hezbollah, Lebanon is headed for war and destruction. The dark days are coming again.

    The world has tired of terrorism. It is no longer just someone else’s problem, it is everyone’s problem. Sorry, but no one will come to your aid, at least no one you want to come to your aid.

    There is a cancer growing in the Middle East and in the Islamic world at large. Every nation must make a decision: defeat the terrorists within or be defeated by the terrorists within. Hezbollah has made Lebanon’s day of decision today.

    Evil flourishes when good men stand idly by. Carpe diem, indeed.

    a few less fucks and shits, and you post’s lines of argumentation could be published.

    Do you think that the utter and ongoing failure of the Lebanese government to take on Hizbullah is a lack of ability or a lack of desire? Or is it both?

    As to Hizbullah wanting an Israeli invasion, why should they care? They are, by and large, well hidden behind civilians.

    > Sorry, but no one will come to your aid, at least no one you want to come to your aid.

    I don’t believe this is completely true — but you do have to decide that you want the peace enough to fight for it . Though that seems an oxymoron, it most certainly is not.

    You must make it a battle between those would would desire a future and those who want only hate.

    I suspect that, if you rise and make that clear, you will find that both the USA and Israel are prepared to help. It’s gonna hurt — no question — but the cancer of extremist fundamentalism has eaten deep into your body politic — into all that of the middle east, if not all of Islam (Yes, I realize you are not strongly Muslim, but Xtian — which is irrelevant if you are heavily intermixed with said Islamics).

    You have to pay the price and cut it out, even when that means you lose a lot of healthy “cells”. You have to do that which is necessary, and make Hizbollah’s existence in Lebanon a hell for them. Show them that they will not conquer you, cow you, or make you fight the wrong enemy.

    I don’t like it, it’s gotta SUCK. But I don’t see any other way — Islam is currently on a path to its own destruction, and currently it is dragging you along for the ride. The ones who want to save Islam need to get busy or make their difference from the fanatics clear and obvious, and visciously assault anyone not of that mindset who attempts to hide amongst them.

    The West has so far treated this as an issue with an aberrant child — but sooner or later, that child is going to display truly threatening qualities, and will then be forced to put them down. We won’t like it, but, as the Holocause showed — we’re quite CAPABLE of it.

    @w: We will prevail, and Lebanon’s star will shine once again. Hope is our one unlimited weapon.

    @mark: yeah, but no fucks and shits just ain’t my cup’o'tea, old chap!

    @JR: I think the government is probably able but the cost is too high, they want to but are wary of the consequences of going up against a group that an entire sect identifies itself with.

    I listed my perception of Hizbollah’s aims in other posts.

    @OBH: Xtian? Irrelevant? Holocause(t)? Eh?
