Idiots.

You’ve probably heard about Pat Robertson, fundamentalist extraordinaire, advocating the assasination of Hugo Chavez

It’s so sad that there are still fools out there who believe in these people and their false prophets… who adhere to these outdated teachings, and believe in a sunny, cloudy heaven and a fiery lava-based hell… You’ll never get the most out of this life if you think it’s just a stepping stone into another… Do this. Don’t do that. God’s mood swings are worse than a woman in the midst of those ‘delightful few days’ that come once a month… yet he’s all-mighty… give me a friggin’ break…

Yet there still are people who believe this bullshit. People who live (or die) for/by/according to their particular religion… sad… so sad…

Here’s a call… if you’re reading this, give me ONE proof that implies the existence of God, Allah, Buddha, whatever… just one, and I will pay you 100 dollars. Cash, online order, whatever. I swear to god.

Ramz ya Ramz… You must be PMSing yourself to write such a post! Talk about mood swings!

As far as I know, God NEVER told anyone to go on killing sprees against their fellow human beings. This shit is not written anywhere. However, if man is stupid enough to interpret and twist all His teachings to best serve his interests (that sadly enough include greed, hate, prejudice, materialism, etc.), what does God have to do with that?

*This is spoken by someone who’s not really at peace with her God, who thinks that God may be extremely unjust sometimes, who has doubted His very existence, and who hates the guts of fanatics and fundamentalists of all religions. But I refuse to let them tarnish this thing called religion and which others people find solace in. I do NOT think that religion is what makes us who we are in terms of ethics and whatnot, but it helps people in their daily lives in a myriad ways. Religion is a personal relation between you and your Creator, not the backbone of a State, the cause behind a war, or the excuse behind assassinating people.

That’s a pretty safe bet there Tempest.

A flawed system cannot prove the existence of a perfect one, it can only stipulate it.

Even the prophets asked us to “believe”. No proof no nothing. Just an act of faith.

So sleep tight my friend, and I know you will, coz you won’t be a hundred dollars poorer anytime soon. Not because of this post anyway.

    tempest, del, tc,

your debate here hits a nerve.
the people who make a business out of discrediting humans and appraising what they call God are ennemies of humanity.

religions are supposed to be about love and tolerance. those people are discrediting the faith that they represent and disfiguring its values.
we have a lot of work to do.

    Budha is not a god,
and he doesn’t say there IS a God tempest.
But I second you in what you said on the issue in general.
    cheers,

As a fellow agnostic, you get no argument from me.
But to be perfectly honest, in that moment where the computer crashes and you reboot fearing all your work is lost only to find it is still there in one piece, in that small sliver of euphoria, you feel that maybe… just maybe… there might have been someone watching over you.

  6. Tempest Says:

    Budha ISN’T a god… my bad.

So, time’s up. As Thermo predicted, I sleep soundly (until poker night, that is)…

Ramzi, alas, my laptop has crashed 6 times in the past two years… 3 times required a month of repairs, 1 required a new laptop, and all 6 meant complete data loss… the small sliver of relief in the last 2 occasions came from the fact that my photos were archived online and the rest of my data on dvds, external harddisks, and elsewhere… the first four meant the loss of lots of valuable data… no one watching over me.

God was there when your Laptop was repaired, when you passed your twice failed exam and when drunk you bicked safely back home. These sweet moments notify a heavenly devine care.

800 euros were there when I repaired my laptop, no summer vacation…Where was the bastard when the laptop broke four times in the span of 6 months?

I studied my ass off, ruined another summer, lost a magical opportunity, and gave myself endless grief to pass that test after twice failing it. Where was God when I was miserable for an entire year?

I wasn’t that drunk… and prolly got lucky, where was God when I DID have accidents?

Sorry, I forgot. God only takes credit for the good stuff, the bad stuff is our fault.

    I love anonymous commenters.

    Tempest

(ps: having formatted my system, reinstalled everything, etc… I’m rueing the day I told all these websites to remember me… now I’m trying to figure out my username/pass to everything)

    fucking A.
